Picture yourself standing awe-struck under a crisp night-sky, where the mesmerizing and enchanting lights of the spectacular aurora borealis dance in the heavens above you.

Picture also, harnessing and preparing your very own sled-dog team then leading them out (or them leading you!) on an exciting sled-journey through the pristine snow-covered fields and forests of northernmost Norway. What about the thrill of an exhilarating snow-mobile ride into the snowy plateaus of Norway’s Finnmarksvidda high above the Arctic Circle. Or journeying by sleigh out onto a large frozen lake in northern Finland for some traditional ice-fishing. Getting up-close-and-personal with reindeer at a reindeer farm and meeting local Sami people, the reindeer-herders to learn about their fascinating culture and lifestyle by the arm fire in their “lavvu” tent. or meeting Sant a at his traditional home right on the Finnish Arctic Circle and taking a gentle reindeer-pulled sleigh ride through his nearby enchanted forest. Tour Pace

Guests joining the 14-day trip in Stockholm with overnight ferry to Helsinki will get to see many of Stockholm’s main sights and with our local expert guide as well as have plenty of free-time to explore this stunning city. From the beautiful Old Town “Gamla Stan”, the mighty Wasa Ship Museum, Town Hall or perhaps even visit the new ABBA museum! We take the overnight cruise to Helsinki on a Silja line or Viking Line Cruise ferry/ship out through the spectacular Stockholm archipelago.

For the rest of the trip we don’t muck around! We ensure we fill our time with plenty of exhilarating local winter Scandi activities such as snow-mobiling, ice-fishing on frozen lakes, Sami reindeer center vists and exciting husky sled-dog and reindeer sleigh-rides. Then, in the evenings, we make sure that we have plenty of free-time to maximise our chances of seeing the mesmerising northern lights!

Day 1 / Sat 1st/ Sun 16th Feb 2025 – START STOCKHOLM

Welcome to Stockholm! After our Welcome Drink and Welcome Meeting to meet your fellow travelers, we head down into the heart of the beautiful “Gamla Stan” (Old Town) of Stockholm for a Welcome Dinner including drinks at a cosy Swedish restaurant to get to know your fellow travelling companions. Wy not try the BEST Swedish meatballs in Stockholm!                         (BB, HD)

ACCOMMODATION: Stockholm 2 Nights – Hilton Slussen “City/Old Town” Rooms

Day 2 / Sun 2nd / Mon 17th Feb 2025 – STOCKHOLM SIGHTSEEING

This morning with local guide, a city tour including visit to the imposing City Hall with its Golden Room where the annual Nobel Prize presentation gala banquet occurs. Then to the medieval heart of the city to see the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. Free-time to explore pretty “Gamla Stan” – the old town and it’s shopping streets. Tonight, a unique and fun “Viking Dinner” in the heart of the Old Town. (BB,HD)

Day 3 / Mon 3rd / Tues 18th Feb 2025 – STOCKHOLM to OVERNIGHT CRUISE to HELSINKI

Today we visit the Museum housing the incredible Vasa Galleon, which sunk on its maiden voyage in the 1600’s and not rediscovered in the archipelago until the 20th C. Then free-time to perhaps visit the delightful “Skansen” zoo and open-air museum, ABBA Museum or new “Vikingaliv” Viking Museum. We then head down to the port to board our overnight cruise to Helsinki. Departing in the late afternoon, we cruise out of the world’s most beautiful archipelago on our well-appointed overnight ferry to Finland.                               (BB)

Day 4 / Tues 4th / Wed 19th Feb 2025 – ARRIVE or START HELSINKI

For those on the 14-day trip starting in Stockholm we arrive around 10:30am into Finland’s capitol, Helsinki. For guests starting in Helsinki on the 11-Day trip, we’ll meet you there at the port and head straight into a city tour with a local expert guide to see this pretty Baltic city. This afternoon, free-time to explore the city-center and nearby indoor market hall Helsinki Wheel or 4D Fly Cinema. Perhaps even ice-skate in the central square with the locals.      (BB)

Day 5 / Wed 5th / Thurs 20th Feb 2025 – HELSINKI to ROVANIEMI(Arctic Circle)

A late morning flight heading north to land in Rovaniemi located right on the Arctic Circle and the capitol of Finnish Lapland. First up we visit a reindeer farm where we get up-close-and-personal with the “locals” before learning all about these fascinating creatures in a warm cabin by fireside. Next up a visit to the fascinating Arktikum Museum and Science center before settling into our hotel here in the capitol of Lapland.  Dinner included in the hotel before time to explore the lively bars and pubs of this lively Arctic Circle city.                (BB,D)

Day 6 / Thurs 6th Feb / Fri 21st Feb 2025 – ROVANIEMI to KAKSLAUTTANEN ARCTIC RESORT

Departing our hotel we head to  the nearby “Santa Claus Village” considered by many to be his traditional home. Reindeer sleigh-rides into the forest before time to explore this Christmas Wonderland and perhaps arrange letters from Santa to be sent to friends back home to arrive for next Christmas! Lunch-stop on the highway heading north of the Arctic Circle to reach incredible Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort near Saariselkä ski area. After a guided orientation of this impressive winter resort, time for included dinner before settling into your unique, glass “igloo’s” (and fingers-crossed, to gaze at northern lights overhead from your inclinable bed!)                             (BB, D)

Day 7 / Fri 7th Feb / Sat 22nd Feb 2025 – KAKSLAUTTANEN ARCTIC RESORT

A day to enjoy some of the activities in the Resort. An included, exciting 2hr snow-mobiling adventure before we visit the impressive planetarium/theater. Time for lunch before we transfer from our glass-igloos into traditional Finnish log-cabins complete with their very own saunas!  Free time to relax and enjoy the beautiful Finnish Lapland scenery and the Resort. Tonight, a dinner in the resort before free time to be on watch for auroras!                          (BB, D)

Day 8 / Sat 8th Feb / Sun 23rd Feb 2025 – KAKSLAUTTANEN ARCTIC RESORT to KARASJOK

This morning we depart the Kakslauttanen Resort, a quick photo-stop at Kaunispäa lookout before heading north to Lake Inari where we journey out onto the lake itself to learn about and try, ice-fishing. Free time for lunch before travelling northwest and cross into Norway and arrive to Karasjok, home to the Sami Parliament which represents the Sami people of Lapland. An included dinner and perhaps a chance to watch and photograph the northern lights from the nearby frozen Karasjohka River.                    (BB,HD)

Day 9 / Sun 9th Feb / Mon 24th Feb 2025 – KARASJOK to ALTA (Sorrisniva Ice Hotel)

This morning, we visit the Sapmi Park to experience more of the traditional culture of Lapland. We take a spectacular drive up on to the Finnmark Plateau and then down by the Alta Canyon to reach almost 70º latitude. We head straight to the famous Sorrisniva Resort where we have a highlight stay for the night in their amazing Ice Hotel, the biggest and most northerly ice hotel in the world. An included drink in the Ice Bar, time to explore this unique resort and ice-hotel before an included highlight three-course dinner. Try the outdoor spa searching for northern lights before preparing for a night in ice-rooms (which stay at a constant -4C inside!). The chance to upgrade to River Rooms in their brand new and stunning Wilderness Lodge for those who prefer to sleep in the hotel.                                                (BB, HD)   

ACCOMMODATION: Alta 3 Nights – 1st Night Sorrisniva Ice Hotel

Day 10 / Mon 10th Feb / Tues 25th Feb 2025 – ALTA

 This morning, free-time to explore the Resort, perhaps try complimentary snow-shoeing out onto the frozen Alta River.  We then take an exhilarating 2.5hr snow-mobiling adventure up through forests onto the beautiful nearby plateau. Afterwards, we transfer to our hotel in central Alta with time to explore the town with views of the striking Northern Lights Cathedral by our hotel. Dinner included in the hotel this evening.                  (BB, D)

Day 11 / Tues 11th Feb / Wed 26th Mar 2025 – ALTA

Today one of the highlight activities of the trip, we visit a local Husky sled-dog center for a truly exhilarating experience. We each learn how to harness a husky and then are taught how to set-up our very own sled-dog team! We then venture out in pairs with our guide for an unforgettable journey through breathtaking winter scenery with included lunch. Later on we visit a local Sami family to learn about their lifestyle and meet some of their reindeer. Tonight, a free evening at leisure in Alta and fingers-crossed again for northern lights!                    (BB,L)                                                   

Day 12 / Wed 12th Feb / Thurs 27th Feb 2025 – ALTA to TROMSØ

Today we travel westward along the spectacular Alta fjord and along the stunning coastline surrounded by snow-covered mountains including two ferry crossings to reach the pretty city of Tromsø. A lively city packed with culture, polar history and fresh locally sourced food in its numerous restaurants and pubs. Tromsø is often called “Paris of the North” and “City of Lights” set amongst mountains, fjords and islands that surround it. A free evening to explore this beautiful city.                     (BB)

Day 13 / Thurs 13th Feb / Fri 28th Feb 2025 TROMSØ

We start the day with a city tour of Tromsø with local guide including visit to the impressive Tromsø Cathedral and an exciting journey up the Solliveien cable car (weather permitting) for stunning views over the city, coast and mountains. Free-time this afternoon to explore town and perhaps visit the Polar Explorers Museum, the famed Polarium or shop in the quaint old part of town. This evening for our last night together a highlight, three final dinner in one of Norway’s best restaurants!   (BB, HD)

Day 14 / Fri 14th Feb / Sat 1st Mar 2025 – END TROMSO

Sadly, our 2025 northern lights tour finishes after breakfast. Take the time to further explore Tromsø or continue your journey by flying south. Perhaps join the famed Hurtigruten Coastal ship southwards! Bon voyage! (BB)
